Annoyed challenger goes to the hotel instead of camping
As a second task, Tim came up with something particularly nasty: Francesinha is something like the Portuguese toast Hawaii with sausage, ham, cheese and a fried egg. René is now really angry. First rice pudding and now this: an insult to the Berlin star restaurateur: “I was speechless, really speechless.” – “I blame him for that”, the pastry chef nudges. When Tim then sends him a camping backpack with the message that he won’t be spending the night in the hotel in Porto, René is satisfied: “I don’t feel like being bullied here.” Frank refuses the additional challenge and goes to the comfortable hotel. brazen
René slept well. Now sandwiches are filled. However, the ingredients are not fine enough for the noble palate. He complains about both the molded ham and the supposedly cheap cheese. He also sees room for improvement with the sauce. Clearly: René Frank can do that better. Unfortunately, recipe improvement is not the task in “Kitchen Impossible”. The jury also punishes the chef who has traveled there. In the end, Frank’s interpretation of Francesinha only brought him an average of 5.4 points.
Tim’s second task is similarly mean. The gut person Mälzer has to go to Mugaritz near San Sebastian, number 4 in the ranking of the best restaurants in the world. The pulpo is cooked in three ways: fried tentacles, a foam made from the soft parts and a deconstructed mat made from pureed squid.
“Tim will just learn the right structure and order.”, Frank teases. The gut guy Mälzer is obviously not in the mood. Mälzer has to be very precise and systematic here. But Mälzer wouldn’t be Mälzer if he didn’t tackle the challenge with heart and head. In complete contrast to Frank, Tim tries to come as close as possible to the original. This also works, except for the foam. Mälzer just can’t get it open stiffly. Mälzer frustrated: “I’m going crazy, ey, that doesn’t exist!” The result is more of a frothy soup, but it tastes good. Tim gets 5.8 points in the Mugaritz despite the foamy soup.
