A strange mix you say?

In 2021, the first season of “Stop teasing me, Nagatoro” had landed on Crunchyroll. This romance even had the luxury of being dubbed in French. At the heart of this love story between these two high school students, we find the theme of school bullying taken up with a touch of humour. A particularly strange cocktail on a very serious subject and which presents a real problem in the school environment. Here, the author known under the pseudonym of Nanashi reverses the balance of power. To better understand this disturbing idea, here is the official summary of the work:

“On his way to the library, Naoto one day becomes the target of a girl younger than him. This student who teases, seduces and torments him is called Nagatoro! Both annoying, but adorable , she keeps picking on Naoto. But where is she coming from, finally? And if her whims annoy the boy, they could well help him get out of his shyness…” – Crunchyroll

With “Stop teasing me, Nagatoro”, romance manga had an innovative title. A success that has allowed this particular title to make its way to France. It was the Noeve Grafx editions that took charge of it. In Japan, about fifteen volumes have been published to date. With us, it’s about 5 volumes that adorn the shelves of bookstores. Moreover, the French translation of the title is rather free. In Japanese, the title means rather: “Don’t laugh at me, Nagatoro-san”. In the English version, the translators have chosen to transcribe the main theme in the title by opting for “Don’t harass me, Nagatoro” (Don’t bully me, Nagatoro).

Other romance anime this season

Another romance anime appearing this season, “Tomo-chan is a girl!” also relies on the originality of its characters. Here, we follow the point of view of Tomo Aizawa, a girl whose behavior is considered very masculine by her friends. In secret, the latter is madly in love with her childhood friend Junichirou Kubota. Except that Not everything goes as planned in this love story. Indeed, the young man continues to see his friend as a boy because of his “tomboyish” behavior. Initially, this title comes from a manga started in 2015. Written and drawn by Yanagida Fumita, the series is over and has 8 volumes.
