Davie Selke should fix the construction site in the storm of 1. FC Köln. As the Domstädter announce, the 27-year-old is moving from Bundesliga competitor Hertha BSC to Cologne with immediate effect and will sign until 2024.
According to media reports, his salary in the cathedral city is only half that in Berlin. In addition, Hertha is said to have waived a fee.
Keller explains transfer
“Davie fits very well with our game idea and the striker profile we are looking for. As a classic nine, he has his qualities in the box and still works immensely diligently against the ball. With his physical presence, his strong header and his good finish, he will help our team if we use him appropriately. We are also convinced that he can give our team important impetus on and off the pitch with his mature personality.”says Managing Director Christian Keller.
Selke himself explains: “What has developed at FC over the past year and a half can of course also be observed from afar. This positive impression was confirmed in good discussions with those responsible. I think that the way I play fits in well with Steffen Baumgart’s game idea. I want to show that here, work hard and, as a striker, I would like to contribute to our success with goals.”
Cologne is Selke’s fourth stop in the Bundesliga after Hertha, RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen. Overall, the tall attacker has 35 goals and 20 assists in 202 games in the upper house. However, the past few years have been quite unsuccessful, and that is about to change in Cologne.
