Senator of socialist ideology Bernie Sanders seeks re-election

WASHINGTON– The far-left senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders, 82, announced on Monday that he has run for re-election, while stating from his point of view that American democracy “is at risk.”

Sanders, leader of the extreme left in the US, pursues a fourth term as senator, runs as an independent, but his positions are socialist. She was a Democratic congresswoman for 16 years and votes with the Democratic caucus.

In a video announcement, Sanders says that in many ways the 2024 election “will be the most important election of our lives.”

He questioned whether the country can reverse what he called “the unprecedented level of income and wealth inequality” and whether it can create a government that works for everyone and not just wealthy campaign fund donors.

“I have been, and will continue to be if re-elected, in a strong position to give Vermonters the kind of help they need in these difficult times,” Sanders said.

Sanders sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020. A year ago he announced that this time he will not be a candidate but will support Joe Biden’s campaign.

Regarding the current war in the Middle East, Sanders, who has criticized the war in Gaza, said that Israel has the right to defend itself after the attack carried out last October 7 by the Palestinian group Hamas, “but it neither had nor has the right to wage war on all the Palestinian people, which is exactly what he is doing.”

“In my view, American taxpayers have no business giving billions of dollars to Netanyahu’s extremist government to continue its devastating war against the Palestinian people,” he declared.

But the war is not against the Palestinian people as the socialist senator from Vermount claims, but against the state terrorism implemented by Hamas throughout the Gaza Strip and which receives the support of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, who, far from denouncing, join to the terrorist actions of the group, whose attack against Israel caused some 1,400 deaths in just 48 hours.
