The main attraction of these festivities is the devotion to Senhor de Matosinhos, which is why on May 28 there will be a procession of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos, at 4 pm, through the streets of the city towards the Monument of Senhor do Padrão.

On May 30, a municipal holiday, at 11:00 a solemn mass of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos is celebrated, presided over by the auxiliary bishop of Porto, Pio Alves.

The Church of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos, whose altars are artistically decorated with flowers on this occasion, can be visited between 09:30 and 24:00.

“Visit the handicraft fair, the tableware fair and the traditional sweets stalls, watch the procession and appreciate the decoration of the flower altars”, invited the mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, on the official website.

Metro do Porto also pointed out that on May 28, the day on which the procession takes place, the Blue Line is reinforced from 12:00 pm every 15 minutes, and between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm circulation is done every 10 minutes.

The festivity of Senhor de Matosinhos has been held for 700 years and usually brings together around two million visitors, according to calculations by the municipality.
