Separate shootings in DC leave two dead, a 5-year-old girl injured

Two people were killed and two others injured after four separate shootings Wednesday night in Washington DC, police said.

Police responded to the 1900 block of 16th Street SE for reports of a shooting around 10 p.m., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers found an unconscious male victim. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Authorities have yet to reveal his identity.

Approximately 30 minutes later, police responded to a shooting in the 700 block of 19th Street NE. Officers found a woman who had been shot three times, police said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her name has not yet been released.

Police continued to investigate the scene Thursday morning. They don’t believe the woman was the intended target.

Officers are searching for an orange Dodge Charger that drove away from the scene.

Separately, a 5-year-old girl was shot in the 1200 block of Sumner Road SE just before midnight, authorities said. The location is close to the Barry Farm Recreation Center. She was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Later, in the 3700 block of Jay Street NE, officers responded to a shooting and upon arrival found a man wounded but conscious. He was later taken to a hospital for his injuries.

Officers are working to establish suspects.
