Sergio Ramos does not continue with Sevilla for next season

SEVILLA.- The veteran defender Sergio Ramos He will not continue at Sevilla next season, the Spanish club announced on Monday.

Sevilla reported that the 38-year-old center back notified the club that he will decline to extend the contract that expired after the season.

Ramos has not commented on his immediate plans. He is not part of the team playing in the current Euro Cup in Germany after retiring from international football last year.

Ramos arrived in Seville from Paris Saint-Germain last season. He began his career with the Andalusian team and then played for Real Madrid for a decade.

“Sevilla wants to thank the commitment, leadership and maximum dedication that Sergio Ramos has shown in this campaign, wishing him the best of luck in his next professional challenge,” the club said in a statement.

Ramos scored seven goals in 37 games in his last spell with Sevilla.

He will say goodbye publicly on Tuesday at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium.
