Sergio Rico has received a medical discharge this Friday and has left the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville where he had been admitted since May 28. That day the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper suffered a serious accident with a horse in the El Rocío pilgrimage that has made him go through a process in which fear and above all uncertainty have been present daily, especially in his wife, Alba Silva.
“I feel quite well, despite the aneurysm not being completely controlled. We must maintain a few more months of tranquility, calm and continue to recover at home, thank God, after so long,” Rico said upon leaving the hospital after 82 days in hospital. “I wanted to say a few words of thanks for the respect you have shown towards my family, especially towards my wife, to the world of football, because both PSG and Sevilla, colleagues and players have been there sending me messages of support… To all those people who have taken a minute of their time to send me a message. All this support is appreciated and more at a time like this that comes a lot, ”he continued.
“They say the brain is intelligent and erases these types of events. It has been a dream, I woke up here in the hospital and thank God I have come out and I feel very excited and very happy. I thank my wife, my family, everyone who has been here… Alba has spent 20 hours a day with me. I am very grateful and without her support it would not have been possible, ”he added excitedly.
Before leaving, Sergio Rico also sent a message of thanks only to Sevilla and its fans for all the tributes they have paid him this time at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán: “is to appreciate”.

Alba has spent all Friday morning saying goodbye to the health personnel who have cared for Sergio Rico for the last three months, especially in the worst moments when she was in the ICU fighting for his life. “This is how I spend all morning with each nurse, assistant, cleaner or staff that comes to say goodbye. I have grown so fond of them that I am going to miss them. Healthcare workers are the real heroes,” she added.
Alba Silva has been the goalkeeper’s main support during these three months recovering from injuries caused by a horse and has also been in charge of updating his state of health at the hospital gates.

Since that fateful May 28 when Sergio Rico suffered his accident, his name has not stopped making headlines while his followers tried to find out details about his evolution. “He is struggling to recover,” his family said hours after the accident giving rise to a few days of uncertainty and speculation in which only Rico was known to be sedated and in serious condition.
After 22 days of admission, Rico came out of the induced coma in which he was found and it was not until the beginning of July that he left the ICU and went to plant.
