Service: carol singers in Oberhausen: all the facts at a glance

Soon you will see carol singers walking through the streets again. They announce the birth of Jesus and bring blessings into every home. They also collect donations for children in need. This year’s partner country is Indonesia. Under the motto “Strengthen children, protect children – in Indonesia and worldwide” the focus is on child protection.

In Oberhausen the commitment of the carol singers is huge. Here is an overview of the actions planned in each district.

Sterrade at a glance

The community St. Clement offers from January 4th to 7th the traditional visit of carol singers. The visit request must be online (www.kjg-stclemens.de) or under 0208/74097793. In addition, all households will receive a contactless blessing. In this form, special blessing packages are dropped into mailboxes from January 4th to 8th.

In the community heart of Jesus all households will be visited from January 6th to 8th.

The carol singers from St. Johann Holten will bring the blessing at central locations on Saturday, January 7th: 3 p.m. on Barmingholtener Straße at the crossroads, 3.30 p.m. on Otto-Roelen-Straße on the meadow, 4 p.m. at the fort, 4.30 p.m. on the square at the ASB- Senior Center and at 5 p.m. in the Church of St. Johann. At the respective locations there is also the blessing package to take away.

All those who cannot come have the opportunity to put their name on the list in the church for the “blessing to go” by January 2 or to call 68 09 55. The blessing is then delivered to household mailboxes.

In the community sweethearts the Sternsinger are on the road from January 2nd to 6th. “Streetbills” are distributed beforehand, indicating the expected time of visit. Every Catholic household in the Propstei St. Pankratius receives a blessing card prior to the action. At the 63rd campaign at the beginning of 2021, 1299 projects in 91 countries could be implemented with the donations amounting to 47.8 million euros. The Dreikönigssingen campaign uses the funds to support projects in the areas of education, health, pastoral care, nutrition and social integration worldwide.
