The head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaumgave the starting signal to 60 electrical units of the metrobus that will feed Line 3.

These are BRT electric buses (Bus Rapid Transit) which aims to reduce more than 100 tons of CO2 per year on the route that goes from the Tenayuca station (GAM and Azcapotzalco) to Santa Cruz Atoyac, in the mayor’s office Benito Juarez.

It is a very special project, because it is also unique in the world, there are none… there are many cities that have electric transport, many; but there is no city that has this type of articulated, high-floor buses that function as BRT, that is, a transport corridor type metrobusthat are electric, with 60 buses”, affirmed the head of Government in the Patio Júpiter of Line 3 of the Metrobús.

He stressed that the implementation of the metrobus electricity is a personal and academic dream for the Mexico City.

“As you know, I spent many years making energy and climate change models, and at some point we dreamed that we were going to have a line of metrobus completely electrical“, held.

He said that it is a transportation system that began in cities of Latin Americabut in case of CDMX Transport concessionaires are incorporated into this new form of mobility in the city.

“In these four years and a little more that we have been in government, we have made the two longest Cablebús lines in the world, one here in Gustavo A. Madero and another in iztapalapaand that’s it we are doing the third; we have acquired almost 500 trolleybuses; we made the Elevated Trolleybus, which is a unique project in the world, also, in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office; and we have been renewing the transport concession and acquiring new buses for the Passenger Transport Network”, highlighted sheinbaum.

He also spoke of the expansion of the Metrobus line 5which now reaches Xochimilco, as well as the improvement of the Light Rail when changing the tracks and the arrival of new trains.

“We are doing a very great work in the Subway Line 1 to modernize it completely; a new power supply system for the Lines 1, 2 and 3 of the subway; and also a new Control center for the Subway. In addition, the expansion of Line 3, the expansion of the Metrobus line 4 of the city,” he said.
