Mexico City.- Elect the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation by popular vote, the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, raised this Tuesday.
“What is more democratic than the election of the ministers of the Supreme Court from an election of the vote? As was proposed at the time for the INE directors,” said Sheinbaum.
“Or what is more democratic, I ask the citizens, the people, the people: what is more democratic, that the INE councilors are elected by the Chamber of Deputies or by popular will at the polls?” stressed.
It is a subject to be discussed, he added.
“What is more democratic, that the Supreme Court of Justice is a proposal by the President of the Republic and an election in the Senate or that they are chosen based on the vote?” Sheinbaum pointed out.
“If democracy is finally the representation of the people, I think it is a good proposal and Plan C too, because it is also important,” he mentioned.
Sheinbaum also referred to Senator Lilly Téllez, who said she was part of the “true right.”
“That they are the ‘modern right’ and use exactly the same words as VOX in Spain and the same words as the almost fascist right that is represented in many parts of the world,” he said.
