Signal is available for download in the updated version 6.7. This gives the messenger improvements. Conversations that are archived and muted can now remain archived and muted even when a new message arrives through a new setting. To do this, the setting “Keep muted conversations archived” must be activated under Settings – Conversations (see screenshots in the attachment). The setting is disabled by default.
Signal then does not provide a notification of the new message and keeps the conversation in a separate section of archived conversations. The new feature is useful for cases where users don’t want to completely delete conversations, but also don’t want to be notified in any way about new messages in that conversation.
Conversations can be archived in Signal and are then stored in their own section at the bottom of the list of all conversations. They are thus largely hidden from the user’s field of vision. Signal has a guide to archiving conversations recently posted on Twitter. When a new message is received in an archived conversation, the conversation is unarchived and placed back at the top of the conversations list.
Muted conversations are different. These will appear as normal in the conversation list. However, users don’t get a notification when a new message is received in a muted conversation.
