Life & Career
Montez has Spanish roots. During his childhood and youth he often moved within East Westphalia. The only thing that took his mind off the stress of moving permanently was the music.
At the age of 13 he was already writing his own songs and recording music. His first songs were inspired by the artist Eminem. He was already able to achieve his first successes at the age of 16: he was named “Newcomer of the Year” by “Juice” (German hip-hop magazine) and hiphop.de.
After that, things quickly went uphill for him musically. In 2011 his first album “Venedig” was released. He experienced his first tour with rapper Kool Savas, and Montez was on stage as a support act at the tour concerts.
At just 18, he headlined the Splash hip-hop festival alongside US rapper Kendrick Lamar. But then Montez went into hiding.
His everyday life at that time was characterized by depression, anxiety and writer’s block. He had to drop out of college. For years he delivered pizza, worked in a betting shop or delivered packages, like Montez in the Interview with the mirror reveals.
Slowly he came back to music and managed to get back on his feet in 2015. His second album “Forever and always gone” was released.
In addition to his own songs, Montez began writing lyrics for other artists in 2018. Among them even superstars Helene Fischer or rapper Katja Krasavice. In 2020 he was signed by Universal.
Since then, his greatest successes have been the song he shared with singer Elif “Always if I want to go” and his song “Auf & Ab”, with which he reached number 1 in the German charts in 2021.
Montez has been with us since April 25th “Sing my song” included. In the first episode, his version of the song “Exactly” by Stefanie Kloß was chosen as the song of the evening!

In a podcast interview with Der Spiegel, Montez describes his musical style as “something between rap and pop”. He would process his whole life in his music. He is inspired by the rapper Eminem, but has found his own sound.
His most successful single is “Up down” (2021). More singles are „Herzinfucked“ (2022) and “Every day more” (2022).
