Small Business Saturday celebrated in Queens

Commercial store owners in Astoria, Queens are coming together today to promote the Small Business Fair. This event seeks to highlight the importance of supporting local producers and sellers to boost the local economy during the Christmas season.

“Small Business Saturday” was created in 2010 by American Express.

Amex says 55 percent of small business owners expect holiday sales to increase this year.

The company reports that in the last 13 years customers have spent almost $184 billion shopping at local businesses.

If you want to support the journey, today in Queens, 34 Astoria stores are doing a retail tour.
