Mexico City.– Angélica Rivera and Alberto “El Güero” Castro were on the verge of tears when they saw their daughter Sofía starring in the film Snag, their first Hollywood production.

The actress said that both she and her loved ones have already enjoyed a private screening of the feature film, directed and co-starring Ben Milliken, which opens in June on the Paramount+ platform.

“My mom and dad cried with emotion, they are very proud. They are very excited to see me in the movie, my sisters and my boyfriend saw it too. They liked it a lot.

“I was very nervous that they would see me because they do the same thing, but they did like it and they are happy,” said Verónica Castro’s niece and Cristian Castro’s cousin.

Sister of Fernanda and Regina, and girlfriend of Pablo Bernot, the 26-year-old actress assured that her debut in a production in the United States is an achievement for her, and moreover, having shared credits with Jaime Camil, David Zayas and Ana Ortiz .

“In Mexico they know what my career has cost me, what it has cost me to get here. It is a film that shows how much I have grown. I won this character because of the audition I did.

“It was a casting of eight scenes: I sweated, I suffered, but I liked it a lot. I feel very proud to have gotten this role and to be a Latina working in the United States,” she said.

Sofía, whose most recent intervention on the small screen was Malverde: The Patron Saint, added that it was a tortuous situation that she experienced during the audition for the film, which is a romantic western.

“Oh! The truth is, I didn’t know how I was going to go, I was covering my mouth because I was wearing braces, I was dying of grief, and I thought that’s why they weren’t going to like it. Ben was very attentive looking at me and I thought it was because of that, but thank God it wasn’t like that.”

Milliken, who in addition to co-starring in the film and writing it is a producer, was the one who conceptualized the story with a style influenced by Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie, whom he considers his idols.

Already with almost 15 years of experience in front of the cameras and building her own career, Sofia said she had practiced her tricks for dramatic scenes, and that she even surprised Ben himself when she played Valentina.

“I drink a lot of water, I said: ‘I need water and I can cry better’. That’s how I cry, that’s how I do it, I cry pretty quickly. That works for me, I learned it over time,” she said when Ben betrayed her in the conversation, since he was surprised by his technique.

The actress finished by saying that expressing rudeness or showing a little more body in the film no longer causes her shame because she understood that it is part of her job, of which she feels very proud.
