With emotional words, Yann Sommer (34) says goodbye to the supporters of Borussia Mönchengladbach. “It’s not easy for me to describe my current emotional world”writes the keeper who switched to FC Bayern on his Instagram channel, “I’m incredibly grateful for the past eight and a half years at Borussia. Here I not only grew as a professional footballer, but above all as a person.”

Summer announces that he will “stay connected forever to this club that has shaped most of my career”. The Swiss has signed a contract with the record champions until 2025. In return, Gladbach will receive a transfer fee of eight million euros – 1.5 million can be added as a bonus – and thus finance the transfer of Sommer’s successor Jonas Omlin (29).
