South Florida again under heat warning

MIAMI.- The National Weather Service has issued a heat alert for South Florida this Thursday, July 18 until 6:00 p.m., where a heat index between 100 and 107 degrees F will be experienced.

The alert will affect Broward and Miami-Dade counties, where temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees F and a heat index of 107 degrees F.

Meteorologists say high temperatures and humidity can cause heat stroke, so they recommend drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, staying out of the sun and monitoring family members, especially vulnerable ones such as children and the elderly.

On Thursday, the sky will be mostly cloudy and atmospheric temperatures will encourage the formation of isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon.

Meteorologists say there is a low risk of rip currents on Atlantic beaches, but warn that the UV index is high.

On Friday, the chance of rain increases and isolated thunderstorms are expected in South Florida.

For the weekend, high temperatures will remain close to normal for the season, around 90 degrees F.
