Summary

  • The Bad Batch Season 2
  • The Mandalorian Season 3
  • Visions Season 2
  • Ahsoka
  • Skeleton Crew

The Bad Batch Season 2

After a first season in 2021, the Bad Batch returns in 2023 for new adventures. As a reminder, the animated series follows a group of genetically modified clones who are very different from the others and who aptly call themselves the Bad Batch. Since the action takes place after the events of the Clone Wars, these soldiers must find a new purpose, which will lead them to become mercenaries while the Empire is in its first days. It must be said that they refused to apply the orders of Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin, which earned them the pursuit of Stormtroopers. A series that therefore addresses an interesting aspect, namely what happens to the clones after the end of the war, now that they no longer have a purpose and that most of them are “deactivated”.

The Mandalorian Season 3

More than three years after the broadcast of the second season, the most popular series in the Star Wars universe returns for a third part. If in the meantime we had the right to a project taken from this story with The Book of Boba Fett, we find Din Djarin, aka the Mandalorian, always accompanied by Grogu, aka “baby Yoda”, in new adventures across the galaxy. From what we could see from the first trailer, the acts of the second season will have major consequences on this sequel. Din Djarin’s decision to remove his helmet will weigh heavily on the other Mandalorians who will choose to exclude him from their community. But as usual, we remain in front of an adventure that will take us on a journey through various planets, all in a context where the Empire has recently been defeated and the New Republic is living its first days.

Visions Season 2

An ambitious and amazing project in the Star Wars universe, Vision is an anthology series that features episodes that tell different stories and are animated by several Japanese animation studios. Given the success of the first season, it is without too many surprises that the show has been renewed for a second part, but with some changes compared to what we have seen previously. First of all, not all episodes of the second season will have an anime rendering like the first and other animation studios around the world will be solicited. Among the countries mentioned, we find Chile as well as England, Ireland, France and even India. In an interview with Deadline, executive producer James Waugh said that the goal of Star Wars Visions is to provide a storytelling that reflects what Star Wars means in the culture of the countries that host these episodes, but also that they represent the myths and stories that come from these countries.

Ahsoka

Long announced, the Ahsoka series should finally be broadcast on Disney+ from 2023. A particularly popular character from the Star Wars extended universe, Ahsoka is none other than Anakin Skywalker’s former padawan that we were able to discover at the start in the Clone Wars animated series, then in Rebels, before the Jedi made her first live-action appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian. As in this series, the Togruta will be played by Rosario Dawson. For the moment, we do not yet know what the scenario of the show will be, except that it should take place after the events of Star Wars VI: The Return of the Jedi, like all projects related to The Mandalorian. And if we still haven’t been entitled to a trailer either, you can still see a preview in the trailer below, dedicated to the shows that will land on Disney + in 2023.

Skeleton Crew

We end this overview of Star Wars projects on Disney + in 2023 with another series from The Mandalorian: Skeleton Crew. But for the moment, we must admit that we do not know much about it. First, the show is set to take place after the events of Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi, like everything else revolving around The Mandalorian. Then, we find at the creation Jon Watts, a director well known to Marvel fans since he directed the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy. Another important element, the actor Jude Law seems to occupy the main role of the series. But as for the plot, we know it should be a “galactic take on classic ’80s adventure films à la Amblin Entertainment”, i.e. the company of Produced by Steven Spielberg. So we can’t wait to find out more!
