From Monday, February 20th, the construction work for the line infrastructure will begin in the new transfer area between the Kapellenweg and the Weideweg in Feldkirch-Tosters. This creates an important prerequisite for the further development of this quarter.

“The Tosters-Kapellenweg district is to be developed together with the residents,” explains Mayor Wolfgang Matt. “That’s why the first citizen participation event took place in October.” Ideas were discussed as to how this district could be sensibly developed and adapted to the needs of the residents. During this process with a further event on March 14th continued, important infrastructure work will now begin.

“Due to the rededication, new building areas were created in the district of Kapellenweg. These now have to be developed using a separate sewage system, ie separate sewage and rainwater pipes are installed,” explains Rainer Graf-Bösch, head of the civil engineering department at the city of Feldkirch.
At the same time as the canal construction work, the access roads for the reallocation area are being built and the newly subdivided plots of land are being supplied with the other necessary infrastructure (water, electricity, telecommunications, etc.).

In the first construction phase from February 20th to March 12th, the connections will be made in the existing Kapellenweg. The road has to be closed for three weeks. Bus line 403 will be diverted during this time. In the second construction phase, the line infrastructure will be set up in the area to be newly developed. The traffic in the Kapellenweg, including bus line 403, will not be hindered by this. The infrastructure work is expected to last until October 2023 and will cost around EUR 2.15 million.

“This construction work does not anticipate the process of developing the district. Only the necessary infrastructural foundations are being created,” emphasizes Mayor Matt and invites all interested parties to the next event on March 14th at the elementary school in Tosters.
