HelloSafe has just published a study on the figures of the streaming sector in France, reliable sources at the key. In particular, we learn that the tariffs have climbed 41% on average at Netflix over the span of six years. A small typo also slipped into the article, which still places Apple TV+ at 4.99 euros per month, whereas the amount has recently increased to 6.99 euros per month. For comparison, the world number one starts today at 8.99 euros per month for the offer Essentialagainst 13.49 euros per month for the subscription Standard and 17.99 euros for the Premium.
This, without counting access with advertising, which lowers the basic sum to 5.99 euros per month only in France. But it is also rumored that Apple is preparing its own solution for advertisers for films and series. However, the information is not official at the moment, moreover Cupertino is known to keep its future projects secret.
Market shares: no surprise
According to Mediametryquoted by HelloSafe, Netflix would monopolize the top ranking in terms of users since the site would grab no less than 68% customers in France. In second position, we find MyCanal with 12% market share, closely followed by Amazon Prime Video and its 11%. Disney+ arrives at the bottom of the podium with only 5% of the cake, the rest being dispersed among all the other competitors such as Apple TV+, OCS, YouTube or Salto.
This therefore confirms the supposed small score of Apple, which does not confirm such figures either. As for Salto, the app happens to be in bad shape since the aborted merger between the M6 group and TF1. At the French, the prices are fixed at 7.99 euros per month for three simultaneous users, without commitment and with a free trial month. Consumers can also opt for an annual rate, of 69.90 euros, to save 25% on the total of twelve months.
The crisis affects all players in the sector
Remember, however, that Netflix and Apple TV+ are not the only ones to have raised their prices: this is also the case for Disney+. The reasons for these changes remain unclear, but everything suggests that inflation has a role to play here.
With this, it should be noted that the different platforms compete in talent to regularly offer us new videos produced in-house. The original titles are notably legion among the three most popular apps.
