Piquetero organizations return to the streets this Wednesday to demand the suspensions and cancellations in the program Enhance Workwith camping on Av. 9 de Julio in the Federal Capital. The measure arises after an unsuccessful meeting between social leaders and officials of the Ministry of Social Development commanded by Victoria Tolosa Paz.
For the piqueteros referents, the suspensions and cancellations in the plans, are dismissals motivated by the “government adjustment to pay the International Monetary Fund (IMF)”while on the government side they maintain that “if the Piquetero Unit had genuine concern” for the beneficiaries of the Enhance Work“I would be collaborating in the biometric revalidation of the program for these people.”
The Minister of Development maintains that it is about “a process of revalidation” of the beneficiaries, and that there are no cuts or casualties as denounced by the opposition social movements. However, leftist leaders pointed out that “there were many problems validating the face” of beneficiaries of the Enhance Workand added that a group of around 500 people “concluded the validation and now they appear suspended,” they explained.
Eduardo Belliboni, leader of the Polo Obrero, fired at Minister Victoria Tolosa Paz, and said: “He lies, he does not respond to social claims and adjust, nor does he solve the problem of the 160,000 casualties of the Enhance Work”. A few days before, the government official had accused the leading piqueteros of using the most needy “in marches in these heats,” and invited them to “bring people to validate their identity.”
The previous week, leftist piquetero organizations carried out cuts in 150 strategic points throughout the country, in demand for the more than 150 thousand suspensions of plans ordered by the Ministry of Social Development after the expiration of the term for the revalidation of data that the beneficiaries of the Potenciar Trabajo Program had to carry out.
