The new year 2023 has just begun, but we don’t want to throw all the old virtues of the previous year overboard. This also includes Sunday’s cloud gaming review by our guest author Stefan:

On my own behalf:

You’ve probably already noticed, it’s been quiet in the last few weeks. Nevertheless, an exciting cloud year 2023 awaits us. The entire Cloudplay team hopes that you had a good start into the new year, even though I will still be writing this text “in the old year”. Not only the cloud services have to deliver in 2023, of course we will continue to provide you with the latest news from the cloud and provide you with podcasts and videos.

If you haven’t already – it’s absolutely free – feel free to follow us, looks or hears our content and leave a subscription. See you!

stages

Only a few days left until Stadia shuts down. Hopefully you already have all the scores together and your refunds.

A current analysis sadly shows us what could have been from Clouddosage.com. Do you remember the Stadia Trials? Those games you could just play like that? It’s a pity that the trials were introduced so late, the statistics show a very positive growth. Even now that it’s no longer possible to re-login to Stadia. Impressive:

Xcloud

Year-end for Xbox Cloud Gaming! What else has been released?

New for you:

  • Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan

antistream

We were a bit surprised by the announcements about Antstream. You can watch the stream again here:

The cost of the subscription will be massively reduced, to just €12 a year and instead of 50 gems, there will be 100 gems a day. In addition, the user interface is (finally) being revised. There are limitations in the “Free Tier” for this:

Still, I have to say that cutting costs and focusing on growth is a good move. Let’s hope that this decision is also sustainable.

New games:

  • Dim X (’16 MAX)
  • Super Lode Runner (’87 MSX)

GeForce Now

No new games on GeForce Now. But an announcement for an announcement on January 3rd at CES.

boosteroid

New games at Boosteroid!

and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands (Steam).

As always, the note: Please note that these versions are not officially supported by the developers or the publisher. The service can add virtually any game via some sort of loophole. Technically, Boosteroid rents out a cloud machine onto which the game is installed and then you can play it. Hence the “Install” game collection on the dashboard.

utomy

There are also 2 new releases at Utomik:

and coming soon:

  • Exorcist
  • Hello Venice
  • Necrosmith
  • Our World is Ended

Amazon Luna

Let’s look enviously to the USA again: Two new games are being added to the Prime Gaming channel:

  • Yakuza Kiwami 2
  • Guacamelee!: Super Turbo Championship Edition

In addition, these existing games will become part of the subscription:

  • Beach Buggy Racing 2: Hot Wheels Edition
  • The Jackbox Party Pack 2
  • Monster Truck Championship
  • Lumines Remastered

Cloud gaming in general

PwC, in cooperation with game – Association of the German Games Industry, has published a study on cloud gaming 2022 in Germany released. You can expect a review, statistics, evaluations and assessments. Pretty interesting all round.

The above example is interesting because the prices are actually quite low in comparison. However, the potential user rated the prices as too high. I would be interested in a deeper analysis here. But one thing seems clear: It’s about games, games, games. Something where most services actually lag behind. Or else, one would have to use several services. With the exception of Shadow PC, all games in the PC library are potentially available here.

What is your opinion? Why do you use cloud gaming or why not yet?
