Throughout the history of the National Football League Already configured with its current format, there are two Aztec representatives who have managed to win a ring of champions. The game will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Arizona, and will start at 5:30 p.m., Central Mexico time.

At the age of 26, Herrera became the first Mexican in history to win an NFL championship. It was during the 1974 season with Dallas at Super Bowl XII (although the game was played in the first months of the following year, as usual). The “Team of America” got its second Lombardi trophy against the Denver Broncos in a game with final score of 27-10.

In that game, the one born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, had an important participation with two field goals and the correct execution of three extra points. After winning the title, Efrén went to the Seattle Seahawks, where he played for four years. His professional retirement in the United States occurred with the Buffalo Bills in 1982.

After what Herrera achieved, it took twelve years for another Aztec to win a champion ring. A native of Torreón, Coahuila, Raúl Allegre made his college career in Texas, where he was signed professionally as a Dallas player in 1983. However, that same year he was traded to the Baltimore Colts with whom he did not have much success. Three seasons later he joined the new york giants With whom He won two editions of the Super Bowl.

The first of them was XXI it took place in the city of Pasadena, California and pitted his team against Denver. Allegre and company won by a score of 39-20 with a goal from the kicker. The win also represented the first Vince Lombardi for the Giants.

The second ring came in the edition Super Bowl XXV. The Mexican team won the title with a tight 20-19 result against Buffalo. During the game he collaborated with two field goals. As an NFL player, he retired with the New York Jets in 1991. Allegre is currently a sports commentator for the US network ESPN in its Spanish version.
