Update (02/13/2023) – GS

For all that’s been shown so far, you can already tell that the animated film of Super Mario Bros. will be full of references and surprises for fans, but last weekend, Universal Pictures released a new promotional video for the feature that was a real punch of nostalgia.

Accompanied by the opening rap from the classic 1980s Mario animation, the video serves as a commercial for the plumbing services of Mario and his brother, Luigi. In their van, the brothers answer a call from a customer with a clogged sink and show that their services are available across the United States.

The video also serves as a prelude to the brothers’ story before they reach the Mushroom Kingdom and their confrontation with Bowser, King of the Koopas.

In addition to the video, Universal also launched the website www.smbplumbing.comwhich is like the official website of the plumber brothers, where customers can make budgets, check the opinions of other customers about his services and even see the job vacancies available in the company, an action that is certainly ingenious.

Update (01/30/2023) – GS

Video game adaptations promise to be the big highlight of 2023 and after the resounding success of The Last of Us series on HBO Max, the animated Super Mario movie should be another hit.

Last Sunday (29), Universal Pictures released an unpublished video of the feature, which shows a little more of the fight between Mario and Donkey Kong. As we know, the gorilla is a crucial part of the Super Mario franchise, being the first major villain faced by the plumber.

In the film, the fight promises to be equally iconic and the new video reinforces that there will be no shortage of remarkable and hilarious moments in the production. Just like in the games, Mario can count on special powers that transform his clothes, but during the fight against Donkey Kong, he ends up taking one of his most bizarre and comical powers, “Mario Gato”.

Mario Gato was featured in the game Super Mario 3D World and he obtains this form when using a Super Bell. In this form, Mario gains feline abilities such as agility, being able to climb walls and deliver blows using his claws, but the cute and cartoonish look does not intimidate enemies and this can be seen in the film excerpt.
