AXA Tianping Property & Casualty Insurance Co., Ltd. (AXA Tianping) and its parent company, AXA Group, recently announced that they will implement AXA Group’s global initiative to address climate change and its adverse impacts in China by supporting the biogas development project for impoverished rural households in Sichuan. Contribute to the country’s dual carbon goals with practical actions.

With the support of AXA Group and ClimateSeed, AXA Tianping implemented renewable energy projects in 13 prefectures and cities in Sichuan. By building biogas digesters and installing smokeless biogas stoves, nearly 400,000 low-income rural families have provided clean, reliable, Convenient and free renewable energy has successfully improved the living environment, health and economic conditions of local residents.

Zuo Weihao, CEO of AXA Tianping, said: “We are very pleased to support the Group’s ESG concept in China to achieve a win-win situation for human beings, the earth and economic development. We not only turn waste into treasure, but also continue to supply clean energy , also significantly improved local sanitation conditions and created a large number of skilled jobs, which strongly supported the personal health and economic development of local communities.”

Improving environmental and personal health through sustainable transformation

The biogas development project aims to help as many as 1 million low-income farmers. It has built and installed biogas digesters and smokeless biogas stoves in Sichuan Province. Through effective recycling of methane, it provides farmers participating in the project with cooking, heating and lighting. renewable clean energy. According to statistics, the project can reduce about 340,000 tons of coal consumption and 800,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year. During the 28-year project cycle, it is expected to reduce cumulative emissions up to 20 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, and greatly reduce local residents’ suffering from respiratory diseases and human and animal diseases. health risks such as comorbidities, while improving the living conditions of women and children who spend most of their time at home.

The beneficiary of the project, Zeng Xianfu, said in an interview: “After installing the biogas stove, we can use the biogas produced by ourselves to cook. Biogas is a free, reliable and very convenient energy source, which makes our farm and living environment cleaner, and the kitchen There is no more blinding and smoky smoke, and I no longer have to buy coal or firewood, which is healthy and saves money.”

Empowering communities to drive sustainable development transformation

The project has also enabled several biogas digester and stove technology suppliers to obtain certification, creating about 10,000 local jobs related to the construction, installation and maintenance of biogas equipment. The project provides technical training for more than 2,000 people, ensuring that participating farmers can enjoy free annual maintenance services and technical support through the extensive network of the Sichuan Provincial Rural Energy Office.
