An explosion occurred in Iran on Sunday night. As the state news agency IRNA reported, a defense ministry ammunition factory near the metropolis of Isfahan in central Iran was attacked with several small aircraft.
The agency Fars published a video of an explosion. State media wrote that the attack had been repelled. There weren’t any victims.
According to the Iranian Defense Ministry, it was a military attack. Three of the aircraft were destroyed by the Iranian defense system.
Nobody was injured in the attack. The damage was minor, the Isna news agency reported, citing the ministry.
Israel accused of attack
So far, there has been no information from Tehran about those responsible for the attack. Archenemy Israel is usually blamed.
Such attacks are also linked to the nuclear deal designed to restrict Iran’s nuclear activities. Negotiations on the agreement have been on hold for months. Tehran accuses Israel of wanting to sabotage them.
Great fire in north-west Iran
At the same time, a major fire broke out at an oil processing plant in the north-west of the country. Dozens of firefighters fought the fire during the night not far from the provincial capital Tabris, which, according to media reports, broke out for reasons that have not yet been clarified.
At least one worker was injured. The fire was so devastating that a fire engine was also a victim of the flames. Videos by the Fars agency showed a sea of flames. (dpa)
