At the end of the first season, Gus’s (Christian Convery) journey in search of his mother, Birdie (Amy Seimetz), was interrupted by his capture by General Abbot (Neil Sandilands), who conducts experiments on hybrids. In addition to the deer boy, other children were caught by the series’ great villain. The new season, then, continues these events.

new hybrids

One of the biggest expectations for the second season of Sweet Tooth it was in the appearance of new hybrids and their histories. However, they are presented briefly and are poorly developed, despite being important for escaping from the villain’s hands and for understanding the protagonist as a hybrid.

We wanted to see more of the parrot girl, who faithfully repeats everything she hears, the turtle boy who is always depressed, or even the friendly elephant boy and his messes. On the contrary, the story of season 2 remains the same, showing more about Gus’ mother’s story and how it all started.

few surprises

the second season of Sweet Tooth it’s good just for not taking chances, since it doesn’t bring great adventures and twists, yielding in lukewarm episodes and without surprises. Perhaps that was the proposal from the beginning, as fans of the comics report that the series faithfully follows the story created on paper.

Even with a theme that involves disease, death, murder and persecution, the plot manages to remain interesting for adults and children, getting right in the way in which these issues are shown. Nothing is too brutal or too frightening, nor too childish to the point of not winning over the grown-ups.

The new episodes of Sweet Tooth, therefore, delight for maintaining a stable quality in relation to the previous season, bringing a good cast, perfect characterization of the hybrids and an entertaining story. It just needed to bring more exciting adventures, develop each character more and speed up events to create attractions for future seasons.

You can already watch the eight episodes of the second season of Sweet Tooth already Netflix.
