ARD preliminary jury sends a feature (DLF/SWR/WDR), a radio play (DLF) and a piece of music (SWR) in the international competition
Baden-Baden. The ARD radio jury for the Prix Italia has nominated three productions for the 75th competition, which runs from 2.-6. October in Bari (Puglia). In the radio play category, the preliminary jury chose the DLF production “Campo” by Laura Uribe. In the radio feature category, the joint production by DLF, SWR and WDR “Your fear doesn’t matter here – How family courts undermine the protection of women“ selected by Marie von Kuck. In the music category, “Social Engineering” by Jan Jelinek, a SWR production, received a nomination.

The preliminary jury met on May 5 under the chairmanship of Martin Lauer (hr), Cross-media Manager Programmdirektion Hessischer Rundfunk. The other members of the ARD preliminary jury for the Prix Italia 2023 were Tobias Nagorny (RB), Ulf Köhler (MDR), Juliane Schmidt (rbb), Isabel Platthaus (WDR), Mareike Maage (music), Susann El Kassar (DLR), and the radio critics Cosima Lutz and Stefan Fischer. The secretariat for ARD radio submissions is at Südwestrundfunk in Baden-Baden. It is the responsibility of SWR cultural director Wolfgang Gushurst.
Most important international award for radio, television and internet
The Prix Italia competition is the oldest and most important international award for radio, television and the internet. Public and private radio and television stations from 45 countries are partners and permanent participants of the Prix Italia. The organization and management is in the hands of the Italian radio station RAI. The 75th Prix Italia will take place from 2.-6. October 2023 in Bari (Puglia). The international competition was founded in 1948, initially only for radio, followed by television in 1957 and finally web projects in 1998.
