The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense indicated that China launched another “patrol mission” in the vicinity of a territory that it considers one more province under its sovereignty to test the “combat capacity” of its Army in case of invading the island. .

Thus, he noted in a statement that 26 Chinese Air Force fighters have been detected, including J-16 fighter planes, which have flown over the island while several warships navigated neighboring areas.

The authorities described these measures as “repressive” actions, which are increasing as time passes.

However, the Chinese authorities continue to defend that these actions are solely intended to “supervise” and “monitor” pro-independence activities in the area. The spokesperson for China’s Office for Taiwan Affairs, Zhu Fengliang, stated that the country has the “legitimate right” to protect its territorial integrity and “uphold the new road map put in place to punish separatist forces.”

“The security forces and judicial authorities will implement all possible measures to pursue possible Taiwanese independence and those who defy the laws,” he clarified before threatening to impose “severe punishments.”
