TCL announced this Wednesday (24) the ION X, its new basic cell phone that should serve as a more affordable option than the models in the 40 line. The Chinese manufacturer revealed the model without much fanfare, but giving clues about what the public must wait.
The smartphone is equipped with a 6-inch screen with HD+ resolution, and judging by the thick edges, we are talking about a panel with LCD technology. On the upper front, next to the speaker for voice calls, there is a camera of only 5 MP that, according to TCL, supports unlocking by facial recognition.
The back of the cell phone is coated with a textured plastic material that seems to provide good resistance and grip in the user’s hands. The camera module is represented by a single 13 MP sensor that has AI scene detection.
TCL has not confirmed the processor model used in the ION X, but we know that it is MediaTek hardware. Given the basic screen and camera specifications, it is possible that we are talking about a basic chip from the “Helio” line. The platform will work with 3 GB of RAM, but information about the internal storage has not been released.

To feed this set, the phone will have a battery of 3,000 mAh. Charging power is not reported, but the component should guarantee enough autonomy for several hours of voice calls and video playback. It is possible to observe a gap in the back cover that may indicate the presence of a removable battery.

The TCL ION X can be purchased exclusively through Metro by T-Mobile. The cell phone did not have color options or prices revealed, but it will be available next Thursday (25) on the official website of the North American operator.
