DAfter the project was in the North in the first quarter, the “National Odyssey” (created in view of the closure of the theater’s doors for requalification works) goes to the Center region, with programming in 32 municipalities, said today the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, in a press release sent to the Lusa agency.
The program at the Center kicks off this week with presentations in Figueira da Foz and Pombal.
In Figueira da Foz, on Saturday, the show “O Misantropo”, by Hugo van der Ding and Martim Sousa Tavares, is presented, as well as a civic and artistic project by the company UMCOLETIVO, which also performs in that city in the district of Coimbra on Sunday .
On Friday, Pombal will host the show “Outra Língua”, which includes interpretation in Portuguese sign language, audio description and subtitling for deaf people who are part of the project.
That municipality in the north of the district of Leiria will also host theatrical laboratories directed by Keli Freitas and Raquel André, aimed at secondary school students and the general public, and the public presentation of “Estórias com Memória”, a project with artistic direction by Raul Constant Pereira.
The region will stage the national premiere of “Silence, silence, silence, please”, by Ukrainian director Pavlo Yurov, “As Três Irmãs”, by Tita Maravilha, “Os Idiotas”, by Terceira Pessoa, a show with original text by Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida and staged by Zia Soares, and “As Castro”, by Raquel Castro, among others.
Over the course of three months, there will be presentations of shows, several nationally premiered, participation projects that involve local communities, activities for school audiences, training, an exhibition and a “great thought event”, stressed the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II.
Also in this quarter, shows will be developed by school and youth theater groups with original texts by André Tecedeiro, Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida and Ondjaki, within the scope of the PANOS project — new stages new words.
