If December 2022 was already marked by a series of company layoffs, January 2023 began with even more casualties in the early days. According to the tracking platform Layoff Trackerthere were 28,096 workers who lost their jobs globally, until the 5th of this year.

The number is well above the 17,074 dismissed in the entire previous month, within the technology segment. Who led the casualties in 2022 was Meta, which went so far as to report the dismissal of 11,000 employees.
