Technology center and Colombia develop innovation program

MIAMI– Mana Tech, the main technological innovation center in South Florida, and ProColombia announced the launch of the ProColombia Miami Immersion Program, in collaboration with the government agency of the South American nation.

The institution, led by Moishe Mana, celebrated the initiative to provide established Colombian startups with the strategies and connections necessary to enter the US market.

Miami’s strategic location, robust connectivity, thriving technology community and government initiatives to attract technological talent have consolidated its position as a gateway for Latin American entrepreneurs seeking to establish their presence in the US.

The ProColombia Miami Immersion Program takes advantage of these advantages, providing Colombian founders with a platform to make their companies viable on the global stage.

Vision and strength

To achieve these objectives, the program combines the strengths of both organizations: ProColombia and Mana Tech, with a fundamental role for international entrepreneurs, because it connects them with investors, mentors and organizations in Miami, through acceleration programs, events and spaces of office.

On the other hand, there is ProColombia’s valuable support for the promotion of Colombian exports and investments, the expansion of Colombian companies and the attraction of foreign direct investment to Colombia.

Between 2013 and 2023, Colombian startups raised $4,621 million. Notably, 25 Colombian companies from four cities have entered the prestigious Y Combinator acceleration program in San Francisco, California, according to the Colombia technology report 2022-2023.

The growth of investment in startups in number of agreements and dollars has increased from 6 agreements and $188 million dollars in the first quarter of 2018 to 29 agreements and $457 million deployed in the same period of 2022.

“Colombia’s startup ecosystem is dynamic, with more than 1,300 innovative companies and cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, Cali and Barranquilla, offer fertile ground for entrepreneurs,” said Carmen Caballero, President of ProColombia, the country’s promotion agency. South American.

“At ProColombia, we are excited to support our entrepreneurs who come from different regions of the country to contribute to their internationalization process in alliance with Mana Tech,” stressed Caballero.

Virtual event

As part of the program, virtual sessions will be held from April 22 to May 24, offering valuable insights and guidance. The founders will then arrive in Miami from May 27-31 for an intensive week of activities designed to explore opportunities within Miami’s tech ecosystem.

“With our solid habitat for startups, in addition to the excellent direct air connectivity between the two countries and a qualified workforce, Colombia is presented as the perfect destination for North American investors,” stressed the president of ProColombia.

The program concludes with demo day on Friday, May 31, at Mana Common in downtown Miami at 6:00 pm.

This event provides an avenue for selected startups to present their companies to a panel of expert judges from the prestigious Mana Tech network.

Mana Tech aims to foster a thriving ecosystem that goes beyond a trend and becomes a movement. Participating founders will have the opportunity to expand their networks not only through Demo Day, but also by attending Mana Tech events and other partner-hosted meetups to connect entrepreneurs with future partners, customers and investors.
