Who says New Year, says good resolutions? Telegram has in any case decided to spoil its users with a battery of fairly welcome new features on the instant messaging application as part of an update.
What’s new on Telegram
In particular, it is possible to automatically delete cached data in your various discussions. Concretely, this option makes it possible to delete the data of certain chats and not to touch others. A new graph also provides an opportunity to check the amount of space taken up by different media files.
There is also a new blur tool. Concretely, this will allow you to blur certain areas on a video or a photo, and we think in particular of sensitive information such as a person’s face, or a license plate.
This blurring tool is well thought out enough to blend into the background. This will make it possible to match the color of the blur brush to the color of the image. You can also modify the shapes by adding rectangles or certain circles, arrows, or even stars. Finally, a spoiler alert message can be added to hide all or part of an image or video before the recipient decides to watch it.
Telegram has added other features that are more incidental but not devoid of interest. It thus becomes possible to use profile photos only for some of your contacts, or to suggest photos to some of your relatives. The application also includes new animated emojis, a non-essential contribution but always appreciated by users.
Telegram has changed a lot in 2022
As a reminder, Telegram changed a lot last year, and it now competes very seriously with the sector giant WhatsApp. Thus, and to retain only a few new features announced in 2022, the app will house non-custodial cryptocurrency wallets, as well as decentralized crypto exchanges.
