For the past 19 years, love-seeking farmers and suitors have found their way to the TV screen in the hope of finding the right one through The Search for Love.

The TV 2 program has been alive and well since 2004 with 19 seasons to date, 76 farmers and 304 suitors – if you only count the four selected suitors during the farm stays.

Several of the participants have found great love with their cameras in tow, while others have had to search further on their own.

In this year’s season, for example, sheep farmer Jørgen Heen Brovold (30) met his chosen one – Sofie Skodjevåg Magnussen (27).

Back in 2020, Ronny Stokland (40) and Camilla Jensen Grinde (32) found each other, and in October this year the couple announced that they were engaged.

Earlier this autumn, it was also known that Andreas Bolset (36) and Cathrine Holager (33) from the 2019 season had become parents for the first time.

These are some of the many examples of love blossoming under the auspices of the dating concept.

But how many couples and children have that really got out of the hunt for love over the years?

TV 2 has received an overview from presenter Gunhild Dahlberg (47) of what the popular program has brought about, and it is clear that it has changed some of the participants’ lives.

After 19 years and 19 seasons, it has become a total 28 couples and 14 children.

Romance has also arisen between some of the suitors outside the farm stay, where a suitor from one farm has met another suitor from another farm.

Jakten-Janne: – Why do you want me so badly?

Of those, there are two couples who stay together today – and who have had children.

If you include the above, there are thus at the time of writing a total of 30 couples and 16 children in the Hunt for Love universe.

Hits the people’s soul

Dahlberg has led the program since 2018, and has followed many of the participating farmers and suitors closely. The presenter believes that the popularity of the concept is, among other things, rooted in its popularity.

– I think that Jakten på kjærlein hits the heart of the Norwegian folk soul, with peasant romance and an all-weather jacket. I think the program is popular precisely because it is so common, and because it is not driven by conflicts and differences. On the contrary. After all, we want a good atmosphere so that it can become love. And that it should last, she tells TV 2.

The 47-year-old also believes that the couples and children who have come out of it all are due to a genuine desire to find someone to share their life with.

– I think the reason for the success rate is complex. One is because many people want a lover and want something lasting. They are looking for something serious, so you become more open. We also recommend that everyone involved be open-minded – to give everyone a chance. Then it’s not just about giving people a chance, but giving love a chance, she believes, and continues:

– Many people who apply to us are tired of dating apps, and want to get more time by participating in Jakten på läjärn. What’s more, they have me and everyone who works with Jakten på ljællien as their cheerleaders, which means that you might dare to “gun” a little extra?

Several hundred children

19 other countries also have the well-known program, including Great Britain, Australia, South Africa, Belgium, Sweden and Denmark.

The Norwegian version had an average of 413,000 viewers last season.

– Norway is one of the most popular countries. We and the Netherlands are the countries that have sent the longest – for 19 years. It is also very popular in Sweden and Denmark. The Norwegian version is also shown in Sweden, so I have received some questions from Swedish viewers as well. It’s cosy, says Dahlberg.

Jakten-frier surprises with an intimate revelation

Fertility also flourishes beyond its own national borders.

– On a worldwide basis, there are almost 400 children from Jakten på kjellienen, says Dahlberg.
