The 62nd Monte-Carlo Television Festival unveils its winners

It is an Australian series, Ten Pound Poms, which was crowned by the jury of John Goodman.

Who to succeed The Tourist, the Australian series (broadcast by France 2) crowned last year on the Rock? THE 62nd Monte-Carlo Television Festival delivered its verdict last night after a major closing ceremony. And the Jury chaired by John Goodman decided to crown Ten Pound Poms !

Once again, it is therefore an Australian creation that wins the central prize of the Monegasque competition, that of the Best series. Ten Pound Poms tells the story of a few British families who left their country in 1956 to try their luck in the “New New World”, distant Australia. As a bonus, the English actor Warren Brown (already crossed in Luther), won the Best Actor award. Ten Pound Poms will be broadcast in France on OCS from July 13th.

Eleven Movies

Another sacred series tonight at 62nd Monte-Carlo festivalthe German-Norwegian thriller The Seed wins the award for Best Creation. Danish actress Marie Reuther walks away with the Best Actress award for Chorus Girls.

Finally, French fiction was also honored since The Colossus With Feet of Claystarring Eric Cantona and broadcast on TF1, was crowned Best TV Movie and also won the Special Jury Prize.
