Puerto Vallarta (Mexico), Apr 28 (EFE).- American Tony Finau, number 16 golfer in the world, signed a 64-stroke card this Friday in the second round of the Mexico Open to climb to first place in the standings.

Finau achieved eight birdies and a bogey, a better performance than that of the first day of activities last Thursday, in which he finished with 65 strokes, to add 129 in first place in the tournament that takes place at the Vidanta golf course, in the resort of Puerto Vallarta, in the Pacific of the country.

South African Erik van Rooyen retained second place by finishing on 66 shots and reaching 130, tied with American Brandon Wu, who finished with 64 shots.

The Spanish Jon Rahm, defending champion and number one golfer in the world, moved up two places and is twelfth, with a card of 68 strokes, with five birdies and an eagle.

American Austin Smotherman, the leader of the first round, dropped to fourth place.
