Actually, there were a few hours left until the live broadcast was to begin, but for that long the bear could not stay away. Instead, it went straight in front of SVT’s cameras to eat.

– We didn’t see it at first, but then suddenly it was there. It was really exciting to see, says Johan Erhag, project manager for “The Great Moose Walk”.

Predator focus this year

Even though it was unexpected in many ways, the fact that the bear came in right there is not a coincidence. The cameras have been set up at a feeding site and the bear lying in the ide couldn’t resist a simple meal.

– The cameras are located two miles northwest of Kullberg. In previous years, predators have been seen in the area, but only when the cameras were switched off. This year, the idea is that we will have an extra focus on predators, so capturing a bear on the first day is unexpected, says Johan Erhag.

After eating and anxiously looking around, the bear chose to leave the place.
