The bodies of two teenagers have been recovered from the waters off the Rockaways. Police confirmed that both bodies were found over the weekend.
Elyjha’s body was recovered around 9 p.m. Saturday near the beach on 114th Street, just down the road from where she disappeared more than a week ago with her friend Christian Perkins, 17.
A body believed to be Christian was found Sunday morning near the beach adjacent to 149th Street.
Elijah Chandler and Christian Noah went missing just after 6 p.m. on June 21, as first responders were finishing their shift.
The family of Chandler, who would have turned 17 last week, held a vigil for him on Friday.
Meanwhile, Noah’s mother said in a Facebook post that the bodies of both teens were recovered from the waters off Rockaway Beach.
Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. and community leaders called a news conference to call for new safety measures at public beaches to prevent future deaths.
