Rare are the French series on the universe of justice. We spontaneously think of munch on TF1 with Isabelle Nanty (whose season 4 ended in November 2021). or at The trainee on France 3 with Michèle Bernier (whose season 7 ended last October). Impossible not to remember eithergearsfigure of the genre in France (with Audrey Fleurot in particular), broadcast on Canal + until 2020. The code is one of those court series acclaimed by viewers. Season 2 arrives this Wednesday, January 4 on France 2 at 9:10 p.m., with the same actors at the forefront, Daniel Njo Lobé (who received the interpretation prize for his role in season 1 at Series Mania) and Naidra Ayadi.

What is the new season about Codedseries on the (wonderful) world of lawyers?

Just like season 1 (our opinion here), the new episodes of the Coded recount the setbacks of a Lille law firm, as well as their professional, intimate and romantic emotions. The suspense of a trial, the difficult pleadings, the defense strategies, the inconvenient clients. Above all, the series likes to seize subjects in the era of time. In this season 2, an episode questions the law on the end of life, another, self-defense. The third (unmissable) shows the daily life of a woman on the street, Elisabeth (played by the superb Claire Borotra), threatened from all sides, forced to urinate on herself to defend herself. And accused of committing murder. At the bar, in front of the jurors, Elisabeth, arched back, frank gaze, recounts her fall. In short, each time, an episode takes head-on a social debate and invites moving guests (like Francis Perrin, Claire Borotra, Émilie Gavois-Kahn…).

The code : should we watch the new season, with actors Daniel Njo Lobé and Naidra Ayadi?

Season 2 is not renewed at all, nor does it revolutionize the genre. But it has the merit of taking us behind the scenes of a law firm. She recounts intimate dilemmas, shows the invisibles of society, seizes on important subjects, embodies them, questions them. Then elevate them to the highest rank. A more than worthy ambition for France 2. The recipe works pretty well. Little by little, without realizing it, we become attached to this whole small tribe of lawyers (sometimes caricatural of course) and to the victims they defend. However, the actors (Daniel Njo Lobé, Christiane Millet, Naidra Ayadi, Barbara Probst) were hardly known before the launch of the series. The bet of the producers was audacious. But the freshness of the actors is all the more appreciated. Small disappointment nevertheless on the side of the convoluted intrigues, with a constant one-upmanship of stakes (the hero lawyer of the series condemned to a near death, the reunion with his little girl, the departure of his bravado associate, the couple problems of some and others and we pass), and an ultra-pedagogical tone, which does not stick with the reality of the courtroom. In short, the codes (television) are well felt.
