It was a horrifying sight that met animal welfare officers when they arrived at the property in late December 2021. There were a total of 17 dogs on the farm – both indoors and outdoors – and the deficiencies in the care of the animals were evident, according to the protocol drawn up during the visit.

The claws were not clipped, the paws were inflamed and the dogs’ fur was covered in feces.

Some dogs were also emaciated, according to the indictment.

– It was among the worst I have seen, says one of the animal welfare officers in the investigation.

All dogs were taken into care and received immediate veterinary care.

The dog owner denies the crime and says that he himself was traveling in northern Sweden when the visit was made.

He was only, according to his own information, gone “a couple of days” and had therefore asked a neighbor to take care of the dogs in the meantime.

– Normally it doesn’t look like this, he says in questioning.
