Crystal Dynamics has decided the end of Marvel’s Avengers. The superhero adventure will be retiring this year. Exactly when is also already certain.

Superheroes retire

On Friday, the developer published a blog post. In this, the studio stated that they will release a final update for the title on March 31st. On September 30, 2023, support will then be finally discontinued.

However, according to Crystal Dynamics, players will still be able to play the single and multiplayer modes beyond this date.

“To our amazing community: After two and a half years and the introduction of twelve of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, we will no longer be adding any new content or features to Marvel’s Avengers after update 2.8 on March 31, 2023,” the studio wrote.

“Update 2.7, which added Winter Soldier and the Cloning Lab Omega level threat, is the last new content to be added to the game. No new cosmetics will be coming to the Marketplace, and all final balance updates will happen with update 2.8 in March.”

“All official support for the game will end on September 30, 2023. Even after the end of official support on September 30, 2023, both single and multiplayer modes will continue to be available,” the statement reads.

“Along with the end of development, we will also be shutting down the cosmetics marketplace. When update 2.8 comes out on March 31, 2023, credits will no longer be available for purchase and all remaining credit balances will be converted into in-game resources for ongoing adventures to support.”

The superhero game was released on September 4th, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
