The Acer Nitro 5 is one of the best-selling notebooks here in Brazil and it’s no wonder – the combination of a good screen, powerful hardware and the main thing: affordable pricemade the Nitro 5 one of the most desired gaming notebooks by Brazilians.

Yesterday at CES 2023 Acer announced the new version of the Nitro notebook with top-of-the-line components. Will it be as good as Nitro 5?

Acer Nitro 16 and Nitro 17

We have the 16-inch models, with screens WUXGA (16:10, 1920×1200) or WQXGA (16:10, 2560×600). The models with a 17.3-inch screen are in resolution FHD (16:9, 1920×1080) or QHD (2560×1440).

Great news is the refresh rate of screens: apparently, no new version of Nitro will have a 60Hz screen – just 144Hz and 165Hz – avoiding the confusion of buying a “cheap” Acer Nitro and having it come with a 60 Hz screen.

For screens this good, the hardware needs to keep up, right? Inside the new Nitros we will have processor 13th Gen Intel Core and the new mobile video cards from Nvidia 40 series. Acer hasn’t said which cards yet, but realistically the models with the RTX 4050 and 4060 are guaranteed.

The storage capacity is high: they offer up to 2 TB of M.2 PCIe gen 4 storage. In the memories, we have up to 32 GB of DDR5 memory at 4800Mhz (2 sticks of 16 GB).

bulky cooling system

One of the biggest strengths of previous Nitro versions was the cooling system: Since the notebook is big and heavy, the fans manage to keep temperatures under control (at least when compared to other hot gaming notebooks).

This is a detail that Acer also highlighted in the new models: the cooling system has air outlets on the sides and rear, and air intakes on the top. Liquid metal is also used instead of thermal paste for better heat conduction between the graphics chips and the cooling system.

At the entrances, we have a door HDMI 2.1two Thunderbolt 4 with Power Delivery support, micro SD card reader and three ports USB 3.2 Gen 2one of them stays powered even when the notebook is turned off (great for charging peripherals while you sleep).

When are you coming to Brazil? And how much will it cost?

Unfortunately, Acer has yet to reveal pricing and availability information, but if I had to guess, I’d say don’t expect these notebooks in Brazil before 2024. The price? These new Nitro are not entry-level notebooks like the famous Nitro 5so expect prices around 9 thousand reais, kicking low!

But if you need a gaming notebook for yesterday and don’t want to spend a lot, take a look at the 5 reasons to buy the Acer Nitro 5, a notebook with GTX 1650 but that still delivers a lot of performance in competitive titles such as CS:GO and Valorant . If you want to see the gameplays of this notebook in heavier games as well, like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Forza Horizon 5, take a look at the video we made of Nitro 5 on Roda Liso.
