In the semifinals of the Austrian championship, the opponent is called Zell am See.

Andelsbuch/Dornbirn. After the series of defeats in the Alps Hockey League, which was certainly also due to the many absences due to injury and illness, the EC Bregenzerwald is now challenged in the Austrian championship. The defending champion will face the polar bears from EK Zell am See in the semifinals.

At the end of the regular season, the forests suffered three bankruptcies in a row, which meant that coach Markus Juurikkala’s cracks fell back to twelfth place in the final table. Most recently, it was against the Wipptal-Broncos without ten regulars – including all legionnaires – a bitter 0: 8 home slap. “I can’t blame the remaining players, they gave everything,” the coach summed up. So you start the qualifying round without any bonus points, in which eight more games are on the program for the time being from mid-January.

First semifinal at home

Before that, however, the semi-finals in the Austrian championship will take place. Next Wednesday, January 11th, the EK Zell am See will be a guest from 7.30 p.m. in the Dornbirn exhibition ice rink. The coach hopes that the hospital will clear up by then. The second leg then takes place on Saturday, January 14th in Salzburg. The club organizes a fan trip for this game. All information on this can be found at www.ecbregenzerwald.at.
