Se instaló en Caracas el cuarto ciclo de diálogos de paz con el Eln

In a continuing effort to achieve lasting peace in Colombia, the delegations of the Government of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN) began the fourth cycle of peace talks in Caracas.

In this cycle, both parties have reaffirmed their commitment to the participation of society and transformation as fundamental elements for the construction of peace and the achievement of a national agreement.

One of the most notable signs of this process is the public act held on August 3 in Bogota. This historic event highlighted the advances and positive results of the Cuban Agreements, demonstrating that the democratic construction of peace with the active participation of Colombian society is becoming the hallmark of this process. This approach has been considered as a catalyst for the consolidation of a sustainable and lasting peace.

The concrete advances of the dialogue table between the government and the ELN They are reflected in compliance with the schedule established for the implementation of the social participation and ceasefire agreements.

Peace talks Government and ELN: National Participation Committee

In relation to social participation, the National Participation Committee was installed, made up of its members, coordination body, technical secretariat and five commissions. In addition, planning has begun for the deployment of 25 national and territorial processes aimed at designing and carrying out this participation in the next four months.

In this new cycle of dialogues, the government and ELN delegations will continue working on consolidating these agreementsas well as in the discussion of other relevant issues on the dialogue agenda and the peace process in general.

The results and advances that arise from these discussions will be communicated to the public opinion at the appropriate time.. At the same time, the members of both delegations will continue working in Colombia in the execution of tasks related to the design of participation and the operation of the Monitoring and Verification Mechanism.

The Government of Colombia and the ELN expressed their gratitude to the Government of Venezuela for its hospitality and support in carrying out these peace talks. Likewise, they recognize the fundamental role of the guarantor countries, the special representative of the UN Secretary General, Carlos Ruiz Massieu, the Episcopal Conference of Colombia and the Group of Support, Accompaniment and Cooperation Countries in advancing this process towards peace and reconciliation in Colombia. These collective efforts mark a milestone in the search for peaceful and sustainable solutions to conflicts in the region.

This fourth cycle of talks with the ELN will seek to comply with the Ceasefire agreements reached so far and the participation of civil society. Besides, It will seek to advance in relief and humanitarian agreements for the populations most affected by the conflict.
