The Vegas Golden Knights joined the NHL as an expansion franchise in 2017 and, six seasons later, have become Stanley Cup champions.

With an overwhelming victory of 9 goals against 3, the Las Vegas Golden Knights won their first Stanley Cup tonight, in the fifth final game of the National Ice Hockey League that they played against the Florida Panthers at the T-Mobile Arena.

Las Vegas’ championship win marks an impressive early six-year stretch for the franchise. The Golden Knights reached the Cup Final in their inaugural 2017-18 campaign and returned to the Western Conference Final two seasons later.

The Golden Knights outscored the Panthers with a 17-9 lead through the first four games of the series, and Vegas jumped out over Florida early in game 5.

The goals for the home team came from Mark Stone with 3 goals, and Michal Amadio, Iván Barbashev, Nicholas Hague, Reily Smith, Alec Martínez and Nicolas Roy with one goal each.

Only 25 teams have won the top award in the sport, with the Golden Knights being the 26th team to reach the cup.

The Golden Knights closed out the 2023 Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
