The spokesperson for the Presidency, Gabriela Cerruti, affirmed today that “what is happening with the Supreme Court is an absolutely serious matter”, considered that the Judiciary “is a power that governs itself”, and recalled that President Alberto Fernández sent projects to Congress to reform the Justice, during a press conference offered at the Casa Rosada.

“What is happening in the Supreme Court is an absolutely serious issue. It has become a power that governs itself and tries to advance over the other powers,” said the official who also linked the ruling that suspended the elections to governor in Tucumán and San Juan with the impeachment trial that is taking place against the members of the highest court that is taking place in Congress.

“It became clear that the ruling (of the suspension of the elections in San Juan and Tucumán) was published when the former administrator of the Court, Héctor Marchi, was testifying before the Political Judgment Commission (of the Chamber of Deputies). He was denouncing them for silence on the complaint of illicit enrichment of (the head of the Court, Horacio) Rosatti, among other things,” Cerruti analyzed.

The spokeswoman added that “the Judiciary is part of the established factual powers” and that “a reform is needed that becomes very difficult when they themselves (the magistrates) can say if they agree or not with the removal of their privileges ” that have.

“The Judiciary is part of the established factual powers, so we need legislators to deal with the laws that the Government sent to Congress in this regard. And with respect to the popular mobilizations, I remember that the march against the 2×1 ruling was called in its time for organizations and civil society,” said the spokeswoman when answering a question referring to the message broadcast yesterday on national television by President Alberto Fernández.

Cerruti remarked today that “this government and those of us who are part of this political force have been part of the mobilization that has recovered democracy, which is why we will never discourage it.” “The true power that a government has is that the people are alert and behind their objectives, accompanying them and demonstrating what they want. This was done in the feminist mobilizations that occurred when the Voluntary Interruption law was discussed in Congress of Pregnancy”, he exemplified.

Yesterday Fernández considered in his message that the resolution “leaves democracy hostage to a group of judges who do not observe criteria of justice.”
