John Walter was left unattended and wandered away from the HVB home in Hagfors where he lived on June 15, 2021. He was later found drowned in a nearby stream.

Hans-Erik Sjöholm agrees with the district court’s assessment in the case, but wants the employees to be sentenced for grossly causing the death of another instead of the normal degree, which the district court did.

Sjöholm’s counsel for the plaintiff writes in the appeal that “the two defendants were wrong in several respects and that their negligence is so reprehensible that they must be sentenced for causing the death of another, a serious crime”.

Want to see higher damages

He also wants the compensation to be increased. According to the verdict from the Värmland district court, the employees must pay SEK 42,400 in damages to John Walter’s father and SEK 30,000 to the mother.

The father wants the compensation for him to be increased to a total of SEK 122,400.

The two employees have also previously appealed the verdict.
