The largest spherical structure in the world arrives in a US city

Sin City has an attraction out of this world.

The MSG Sphere lit up Las Vegas for the first time on July 4, giving the world a taste of what is billed as the world’s largest spherical structure.

The visual spectacle is just a preview of what the center promises to offer when it officially opens later this year.

Sphere Entertainment Co. is the owner of MSG Sphere. The company also runs MSG Networks and the Garden of Dreams Foundation.

At $2.3 billion, Sphere cost more to build than notable Las Vegas venues like Allegiant Stadium and the Bellagio.

WHERE IN LAS VEGAS IS THE SPHERE FOUND?

The show is one block east of the Las Vegas Strip. It is connected to the Venetian through a pedestrian path.

HOW BIG IS THE SPHERE OF LAS VEGAS?

The MSG Sphere has a height of 366 feet and a width of 516 feet, making it the largest spherical structure in the world.

HOW MANY LIGHTS ARE THERE ON THE SPHERE IN LAS VEGAS?

The exterior of the Sphere is festooned with 1.2 million hockey-puck-sized LED lights, programmed to display stunning designs. Apparently, it is the largest video screen in the world.

Inside is the world’s highest quality surround LED screen. There are also 160,000 speakers designed to give all attendees the same quality of sound. To take the atmosphere to another level, vibrating seats and wind machines offer viewers the chance to experience 4D.

WHAT IS THE CAPACITY OF THE LAS VEGAS SPHERE?

Speaking of capacity, the Sphere fits just under 18,000 people.

WHEN IS THE LAS VEGAS SPHERE OPEN?
The MSG Sphere will officially open its doors on September 29 for the first of 25 “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere” shows. The concert series will last from late September to mid-December.

Tickets for the first two concerts are sold out. The cheapest ticket to any of the other 23 concerts starts at $267.88, according to the website of Sphere.

WHAT OTHER EVENTS WILL BE HELD AT THE LAS VEGAS SPHERE?

Although the venue will mainly host live music, sporting and film events will also take place at Sphere.

There will be exclusive screenings of Darren Aronofsky’s “Postcard From Earth,” a film created using Sphere technology. The first screenings will take place on October 6, with tickets starting at $69.
