MIAMI.- The actress Colombian Lina Marulanda, who participated in the successful soap opera I am Betty the Ugly onetook her own life at the age of 29 in 2010. And 14 years after the fateful event, the last message she sent to her friend Alejandra Azcrate comes to light.

Born on May 15, 1980 in Medellín, Lina María Marulanda Cuartas took her life on April 22, 2010 by jumping from the sixth floor of her apartment in Bogotá.
“Her sister revealed that she was tormented by her weight. In the last weeks of her life she suffered from depression, allegedly caused by her separation from her husband Carlos Oate, as well as by the end of the jewelry business partnership she had,” Univision reported.

Lina played one of the models at the Ecomoda agency in the soap opera I am Betty the Ugly onepremiered on October 25, 1999 on the Colombian channel RCN.
In addition to being an actress, she also excelled in modeling and animation. “With her death, Lina Marulanda cut short her dreams of being an artist, businesswoman and becoming a mother,” Univision reported.
